Much of those come from the existing fans, of course - those who loved the original anime with its jazz- and corgi-infused mix of noir and sci-fi and are hoping the new series does it justice. Netflix's Cowboy Bebop is by no means the worst live-action anime reboot - and indeed its allusions to love interest Julia being the major villain of season 2 suggested some interesting divergences ahead - but its efforts to seemingly try and court as broad an audience as possible only served to cost it in the long run.Netflix’s live-action take on Cowboy Bebop comes with a lot of expectations. Those who adore the original anime Cowboy Bebop saw scenes that had worked in the anime come off worse in the live-action show, and those who had never seen the anime had no viable explanation for why some scenes looked so surreal, as they didn't have the context of the original cast or plot. Ultimately, this type of decision would be the proverbial nail in the coffin for Netflix's Cowboy Bebop, as moments like these alienated both potential groups of viewers. The Ed backlash and criticism was twofold firstly, that having a real person act like a cartoon character comes off as inherently strange, and secondly that, given all the other changes to from the original show, there was no reason for Ed's character to not have also been changed to better suit the live-action Cowboy Bebop's format. While actor Eden Perkins does a solid job of reprising Ed's personality for a live-action audience, the decision to keep Ed at the same level of high energy as is the case in the anime earned the show relatively widespread ridicule. Many potential viewers were put off the series by shared footage of one of the final scenes in Cowboy Bebop season 1, which introduced the final main member of the Bebop, in the form of child genius Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivruski IV. The changes to plots, characters and environments ultimately created a very different overall feeling to the show, which could have worked for all but the most ardent of Cowboy Bebop's anime fans, had the changes been consistent and clearly done in order to match a live-action setting better. However, this wasn't the case. This was arguably the downfall of the series, as there had been clear efforts taken to try and reimagine portions of Cowboy Bebop's characters and world, but it was paradoxically this decision that ultimately garnered the most critical reception. The streaming service had a tough job ahead of it in trying to convince its audience that it was both not another of the consistent average-to-poor franchise reboots that have become relatively common, and that it was on par with the original anime - or at least had the same core atmosphere and world. Netflix canceled Cowboy Bebop after just three weeks. However, Netflix has recently announced that Cowboy Bebop is canceled - so why have they decided to cut the show, given the obvious set-up for the next season? Why Netflix Canceled Cowboy Bebop Season 2 The show's final episode ends on a series of cliffhanger notes, and it is clear that Netflix's intention was to release Cowboy Bebop season 2 sometime in the future - confirmed by showrunner André Nemec's previous statement of the team having " big plans for season two".

However, Netflix's live-action adaptation of the show has had a more divided reaction, with many Rotten Tomatoes critics disregarding Netflix's Cowboy Bebop season 1 as another live-action anime remake that didn't hit quite the right note. Though the show wasn't universally despised, the series seemed to have decidedly alienated many fans of the original anime, while also not appealing as much to new viewers at the same time. With the continued success of franchises of a similar genre, recreating Spike Siegel's jazz-infused bounty hunter adventures was an almost inevitable venture, especially given the lasting adoration the original show still receives.
